Not for the first time in his career, champion cyclist Lance Armstrong has been forced to deny allegations that he used hormones and blood doping products while riding for the U.S. Postal racing team.
According to the Washington Post, Armstrong has been notified that he will be charged by the U.S. Anti-Doping Agency, who claim that he used hormones, testosterone, and blood-doping products to enhance his racing performance, beginning in 1998.
If proven, the seven-time winner of the Tour de France could be stripped of all his titles. Armstrong has also been suspended from competing in triathlons, a sport he took up following his retirement from cycling, while the case is pending.
In a response to the allegations, Armstrong posted a statement on his website saying the charges were baseless, motivated by spite, and advanced through testimony bought and paid for by promises of anonymity and immunity.
