® Releases Key Update to LPS

Intergraph® announces the release of LPS 11.0.5, a service pack for LPS 2011. All LPS 2011 customers are eligible for this upgrade and can download this service pack from the LPS product page.

LPS is a powerful photogrammetry system that delivers full analytical triangulation, the generation of digital terrain models, orthophoto production, mosaicking and 3D feature extraction in a user-friendly environment that guarantees results even for photogrammetry novices. With its tight integration with ERDAS IMAGINE®, LPS is the ideal photogrammetric package for projects involving varied types of data and further processing and analysis of airborne and satellite imagery.

Bill LaRocque, Global Product Line Executive – Photogrammetry, Intergraph, states, “The LPS 11.0.5 release represents a balanced combination of new innovations plus customer change requests, advancing our goals of ever-increasing productivity and return on investment.”

LPS 11.0.5 extends the product’s broad range of support for both orbital and airborne sensors by adding the Pleiades Rational Polynomial Coefficient (RPC) model, the DEIMOS RPC model and the VisionMap A3 Super Large Format (SLF) model. The ability to use these sensors provides unique advantages and capabilities for customers, and LPS’ support for them reiterates Intergraph’s commitment to keeping customers on the forefront of technology.

Pleiades-1 was launched on December 16, 2011, and can provide orthorectified color data at 0.5-meter resolution and revisit any point on Earth as it covers a total of one million square kilometers (approximately 386,102 square miles) daily. In addition, Pleiades-1 will be capable of acquiring high-resolution stereo imagery in just one pass, and can accommodate areas as large as 1,000 km x 1,000 km.

DEIMOS-1 is the first private satellite in Europe that carries a multichannel optical sensor, and was designed to obtain imagery for terrestrial vegetation cover analysis. It employs a 600-kilometer extent that allows repeated views of an area at a high temporal resolution and a reduced cost.

The VisionMap A3 digital aerial camera covers a larger area than most aerial cameras, with a footprint of 60,000 pixels across flight track. Its long focal length enables the capture of high-resolution imagery from higher altitudes, simplifying the flight planning and operations of survey projects. Additionally, the A3’s wide field-of-view (up to 109 degrees) allows it to collect multi-directional images of each point in both vertical and oblique angles.

LPS 11.0.5 also expands users’ choice of input devices. In addition to the existing support for the Leica Topomouse, LPS now also supports the Z/I Mouse, a high-precision, 3D mousewith anadvancedergonomic design that enables streamlined motion to accelerate data input and increase user productivity.

Intergraph® Announces ERDAS IMAGINE® 11.0.5 Now Available

Intergraph® is proud to announce a new minor release of ERDAS IMAGINE®, now available to all customers with ERDAS 2011 software. Users can download ERDAS IMAGINE 11.0.5 from the product webpage. This release includes changes from all previous service packs released for ERDAS IMAGINE 2011.

ERDAS IMAGINE is a leading geospatial data authoring system, incorporating geospatial image processing and analysis and remote sensing into a single powerful, convenient package. ERDAS IMAGINE enables users to easily create value-added products such as 2D and 3D images, 3D flythrough movies and cartographic-quality map compositions from geospatial data. Intergraph has paired GeoMedia® and ERDAS IMAGINE to deliver a comprehensive suite of image processing coupled with GIS analysis and data management capabilities. GeoMedia is a powerful GIS data management and analysis package that enables users to realize the maximum value of their geospatial resources.

Enhancements since the release of ERDAS IMAGINE 2011 include more Live Link connections between ERDAS IMAGINE and GeoMedia, providing truly connected image processing and GIS products. Brought together by a single organization, users can easily leverage these two products in unison to construct a larger, clearer geospatial picture. Specifically, the Live Link changes enable users to:

Connect the GeoMedia Map Window and ERDAS IMAGINE Viewer
Natively read GeoMedia Warehouse files in ERDAS IMAGINE
Write to GeoMedia Warehouse Attributes in the ERDAS IMAGINE spatial modeler
Export GeoMedia Warehouses to shapefiles
Import shapefiles to GeoMedia Warehouses
Users can also take advantage of other enhancements, including the cloud remover in MosaicPro, a tool for creating seamless image mosaics. Users can now quickly and easily remove clouds from their image mosaics by digitizing cloud areas and manually adjusting the radiometry of individual images. MosaicPro now also allows users to use batch and distributed processing when outputting image tiles. In addition, this release provides support for new sensor models, including the VisionMap A3 aerial sensor and the Pleiades satellite constellation. ERDAS IMAGINE’s classification capabilities are also strengthened in this release by offering new options for supervised classification, spectral angle mapping and spectral correlation mapping.

“While dubbed a ‘minor’ release, ERDAS IMAGINE 11.0.5 incorporates noteworthy changes that provide tremendous value and open up new possibilities for our customers,” said Steve du Plessis, Global Product Line Executive – Remote Sensing, Intergraph.  “Since the last release, customers will recognize performance advances enabling processes to run faster, added support for the newest sensors on the market and many smaller changes that contribute to the overall strength and usability of ERDAS IMAGINE. This is a great time for all ERDAS IMAGINE customers to begin leveraging these upgrades to ensure they’re getting the most from their software investment.”

Intergraph’s ERDAS APOLLO Helps Enhance the Delivery of Geospatial Data

Intergraph® announces that State of Brunei Darussalam, a sovereign state located on the north coast of the island of Borneo, is leveraging ERDAS APOLLO to modernize the way Brunei Survey Department manages and delivers geospatial information to the rest of its government agencies, as well as to the general public.

Rolled out in two phases under the Survey Spatial Data Infrastructure (SSDI) project, this effort provides an infrastructure that increases the productivity of many geospatially related tasks throughout the country by improving access to data, streamlining processes, reducing duplication of efforts in data collection, and enhancing the quality of information.

ERDAS APOLLO is being used in the first phase to provide web-based workflows to improve productivity for Survey Department staff, as well as make this data accessible to other government agencies.  Later in 2012, Brunei Survey Department will introduce an ERDAS APOLLO-based geospatial portal that will supply imagery and data to the general public.

“The SSDI project will significantly reduce duplication efforts among agencies and improve quality and reduce costs related to geographic information,” said Awang Hj. Mohd. Jamil Hj. Mohd. Ali, Surveyor General of Brunei Survey Department.  “We also intend to make geographic data more accessible to the public, which will provide the added benefit of increased data availability and further use of geospatial information for the public and private sector as well as academia.”

The Brunei Survey Department, which serves as one agency under the government of His Majesty of Brunei Darussalam, plays a major role in land surveying, preparation and production of maps, as well as providing support for Land Information Technology for the State of Brunei Darussalam’s Country Development Plan.

ERDAS APOLLO is the market leading enterprise solution for managing and delivering massive volumes of distributed geospatial data and imagery.  This server-based offering is available in three product tiers to suit a wide spectrum of organizations - from those that simply need a very low-cost, exceptionally fast image server to those requiring a comprehensive data management system.
