Baidu Cloudphone to be unveiled on the 21st of December

While China might have started out creating some pretty impressive knock-off phones in the past, they have managed to catch up pretty quick and have since released pretty impressive handsets to date, although much like Japanese manufacturers, these China-made phones appear to be available just for the China region. Either way if you don’t mind getting a handset imported, you might be interested to learn that come 21st of Decembe, Baidu (China’s equivalent of Google) has announced that they will be taking the wraps off their smartphone.

Rumor had it that Baidu had plans to launch a smartphone of their own so we guess 21st of December will be when the rumors come into fruition. The handset has been tentatively named the Baidu Cloudphone, and while details of the handset remain scarce, we’re guess it could be tightly integrated with Baidu’s own cloud service. Word has it that it will sport a 4.5” 540×960 display, a dual-core 1.2GHz processor and will be running on Baidu’s own mobile operating system which is said to be based on Android. It doesn’t sound very impressive but we guess we will have to wait and see, so check back with us on the 21st of December for the details â€" assuming the world hasn’t ended by then, of course.
