After analyzing the September UK car sales, the Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders has reached the conclusion that the Ford Fiesta is still the best selling car in the UK. Apparently only in September 18,651 units of this car were sold all across the UK. Apparently the supermini managed to preserve its popularity as the â62â registration started becoming part of number plates.
If you are also interested in the second and third place, you should know that they were occupied by a Vauxhall and a second Ford, respectively. The Vauxhall Corsa took the second position due to the 17,089 units that were sold all across the UK, so itâs pretty close to the leader position. The second place car was sold in less than 14,000 units and is the Focus which proves once again that Ford is pretty inspired when it comes to designing successful cars.
The top created by the SMMT based on the September figures doesnât end here because it was built as a ten-place list. On that list you will also find a second Vauxhall, the Astra, on the fourth place with 9,864 successful sales and the Volkswagen Golf which follows closely on the sixth position with no more and no less than 9,270 units sold. The rest of the list is dedicated to cars like the Mercedes-Benz C-Class that managed to acquire the sixth position, the BMW 3 Series that closely follows it along with the Nissan Qashqai and the Volkswagen Polo. All these cars that occupy the places from the sixth to the ninth have been sold in more than 7,000 units. Fewer than 7,000 units sold were recorded only by the tenth car on the list which is the Peugeot 208.
On the whole, in September, UK car dealers managed to sell a little over 26,000 cars. That led to a registration increase by 8.2 percent. The specialists see this increase as a good omen: it seems that although the economic situation is still not as good as it should be, UK car buyers are starting to make investments because they are interested in discovering the new, more fuel-efficient offer on the market.
