If you are a Renault Clio fan, you will be happy to find out that the carmaker has just updated this line-up by making available new engine options. All of them are supposed to put at consumer disposal smaller engines that are also greener.
These two new engine options are currently displayed at the Renault stand that made it to the 2012 Paris Motor Show. Both these engines can be ordered when buying one of the new Clio hatchbacks in its standard version. So, if you are interested in such a purchase, you should get ready to choose between a new three-cylinder petrol engine and an improved diesel engine thatâs supposed to be greener.
About the first engine version mentioned I can tell you itâs code named Energy TCe 90 and was designed to ensure a fuel economy of 65mpg. In addition, it ensures low enough CO2 emissions to help its buyers to dodge the road tax. However, the performance delivered is not less impressive. Renault actually compared it with that of a natural aspirated engine with a capacity of 1.4 litres and four cylinders. So, get ready to be impressed by 90bhp and the delivery of 135Nm of torque.
The second new engine version that you will have to consider if in the near future you are going shopping for a brand new Renault Clio was named Energy dCi 90 and is a diesel engine capable of ensuring better fuel economy and less CO2 emissions than many of the other diesel engines on the market. Thatâs because its fuel economy is estimated at only 88.2mpg. In addition, it ensures the same 90bhp of the petrol version already described and delivers an impressive 220Nm of torque.
About the availability date of these new engine versions I can tell you that it coincides with the November date set by Renault for new Clio orders. I must also add that the actual deliveries will most likely start in February of 2013. Until then Renault might also get ready to reveal a third new petrol engine version for the new Clio that was already promised.
