Retail Turnover 2012 in Germany

This month's map from GfK GeoMarketing shows the regional distribution of stationary retail turnover in Germany at the level of districts (data source: "GfK Retail Turnover 2012" / GfK GeoMarketing).
About the study

GfK Retail Turnover reveals the regional distribution of retail-related turnover at the point of sale. In contrast to GfK Retail Purchasing Power, which is calculated at consumers’ places of residence, GfK Retail Turnover is calculated at the locations at which sales are made. GfK Retail Turnover is defined as the turnover of the POS retail trade, excluding motor vehicle and fuel sales as well as mail-order retail, but including retail-related turnover from bakeries, confectionaries and butchers.

GfK GeoMarketing annually calculates GfK Retail Turnover for every regional level as a total sum, per inhabitants in euros and as an index (German average = 100). The calculated figures include coverage of all German urban and rural districts as well as all municipalities and postcodes with more than 10,000 inhabitants.
Regionalized retail turnover data is also available for many European countries.
