Although the exterior reflects the obvious link with the new Actros, Antos has many special new features in design. On the one hand, to be consistent with its area of use, mostly urban, Antos has a very friendly design. Meanwhile, flat design suitable for short distance transport transform into a sturdy vehicle.
For the first time, all safety systems with which drivers were familiar with at Actros are now available for trucks from short distribution sector. The following systems are available in standard: electronically controlled EBS braking system with ventilated disc brakes, high-efficiency engine brake, ABS anti-lock braking system, acceleration skid control ASR and Stability Assist. Coming to the third generation Active Brake Assist, Mercedes-Benz has created a security package with optional assistance systems for Antos.
Mercedes PowerShift 3 gearbox is fully automatic, very fast, available in versions with eight or twelve steps, provides a constant transmission of engine power. A special feature of the new Antos is the opportunity to join the extremely compact engine, as OM 936, with several transmission speed. This results in improved performance, even in combination of truck/trailer, which are fully charged occasionally and optimized units of weight.
